What makes Instagram’s algorithm think a reel is good?
I’ve been posting Reels for sometime now along my regular posts. It get a few likes as soon as I post it, but it loses both engagement and views after a few hours.
Ever since I started posting shorter reels every day, they have been stuck around 200–250 views.
Hello Sophie, Instagram’s algorithm considers a Reel to be good :
- When users watch it until the end : meaning that your content is interesting enough for the viewers to engage with.
- When viewers save, share and rewatch your Reel : it is an indicator for the Instagram’s algorithm to determine that you produce quality content.
These are the main factors that contribute to the algorithm boosting a reel, but keep in mind that the timing is also important so make sure to upload at the right moment using trending music and the appropriate hashtags too.
We hope this answers your question !
Reels are considered to be “good’ when the video is high caliber quality ofc, but when it comes to liking/commenting a post, people are more likely to interact with a reel that has thousands of likes rather than one with just 10.
